Year Two News

The History Box
On Friday, 1st May, Year 2 students went back in time thanks to the History Box. Students learnt about "Life - Then & Now" to support our Humanities topic of Community History. Cyn from the History Box taught us about what school was like in the past and the present, and how everyday activities have changed over time. Students were able to explore games and household items such as typewriters, radios and even telephones to see how they have changed. The oldest item was over 100 years old! We also learnt the game 'Ngaka Ngaka', which is a game played by the Wadawurrung people. Ngaka means look - to play the game, you have to look at what the other person is doing to see where you place your stone. It is very similar to tic-tac-toe, but you can move your stone around on the grid to make your row of three. Students were amazed at what life was like in the past, and very grateful that they live in the present with our current technology.
