Beyond the wand: The magic and mayhem of growing up a wizard

A humorous, honest and very heartfelt autobiography written by actor Tom Felton, Beyond the wand covers Tom’s early years in acting, his childhood, family life, and sheds light on what it was like growing up on the set of the Harry Potter films.
Best known as ‘Draco Malfoy’ in Harry Potter, Tom began acting as a young child in small TV ads and later big-budget movies with Hollywood stars. He shares many funny tales about how he got into acting and the mischief he got up to throughout his early childhood. His stories about his time on Harry Potter are scattered all through the book, focusing on many of the actors he worked with, such as Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore), and of course, close friend Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). These are the highlights of the book if you are a big Harry Potter fan!
Tom also talks about his career after Harry Potter came to an end, and his struggles with finding motivation and his purpose in life, and also his substance addictions. He credits his family and friends for their everlasting support throughout his life, which makes this book quite a moving experience to read. Beyond the wand is well-worth reading for this aspect alone, but anyone just looking for an enjoyable biography will definitely enjoy this book!
