Lachlan Rae (8 Silver) – Tennis Australia – Australian Teams Championships

We’re thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of one of our students, Lachlan, who recently represented the 13U Australian Country Team at the Tennis Australia – Australian Teams Championships on the Gold Coast. This fantastic achievement is a testament to Lachlan’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to his sport, and we are incredibly proud of the way he represented both his team and Belmont High School on the national stage.

Lachlan was selected alongside two other regional players from across Australia to compete in the eight-day tournament. The team began strongly, defeating Pacific Oceania 3–0 to secure a place in the main draw. They then faced some of the country's strongest teams, narrowly going down to NSW (1–2) before recording impressive victories over Western Australia (2–1) and Victoria (2–1). In the finals stage, the team defeated the Australian All Stars (2–0) before a close 1–2 loss to South Australia.

Individually, Lachlan had an outstanding tournament, winning seven of his eight matches, including a victory over a player from the eventual championship-winning team. Reflecting on the experience, Lachlan particularly enjoyed the opportunity to compete alongside new teammates from across Australia and spend time learning from coaches throughout the week.

National Gymnastics Success for Belmont High Student Olivia Meaney

Congratulations to Belmont High School student Olivia Meaney, who achieved outstanding results at the Australian National Gymnastics Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park in July.

Representing both YMCA Geelong and Victoria in the Developing International division, Olivia delivered an exceptional performance, finishing 2nd Overall (All-Around) and being crowned Australian Vault Champion. She also placed 2nd on Bars, 2nd on Floor, 3rd on Beam, and helped the Victorian team secure a Silver Medal.

Olivia's achievements are a testament to her dedication, resilience and hard work. We are incredibly proud of her success on the national stage and congratulate her on this fantastic accomplishment.

Australian Scooter Championships

Congratulations to Ollie Mccaughley year 7 who was runner up in the Australian Scooter Championships in Brisbane over the holidays. He made the World Champs with a score just 1 off the winner. He will be heading to Paraguay in October to represent for Australia in the World Championships. He was the youngest at 12 in the junior U18s. Most were 5 years older.
