Over the past two weeks, students have been exploring Indonesian culture.
Prep to Year 2 students learnt about 'batik', including the traditional process of using wax and special tools to create intricate patterns before dyeing the fabric. Students then designed their own batik-inspired patterns.
Students from Prep to Year 2 also continued exploring Indonesian folktales and shared their responses to the stories they read.
Years 3 and 4 learnt about the important role masks play in Indonesian culture, and designed their own masks inspired by traditional examples. They also researched a range of Indonesian animals, learning about the habitats in which they live across the archipelago.
Years 5 and 6 conducted research independently or in small groups on a variety of Indonesian cultural practices and celebrations, including Ramadan, Megibung, Hari Nyepi, Saraswati Day, Kartini Day, and Idul Fitri. Students shared their findings and developed a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity.
It has been a wonderful term of learning, and students should be proud of the knowledge and skills they have developed. We wish all families a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to more Indonesian learning next term.

To finish the term, students reflected on their learning and celebrated their achievements.
Prep
Students shared their favourite learning through journals and participated in a STEAM celebration.
Years 1 & 2
Year 1 and 2 students explored heat and sound before reflecting on their learning in a class gallery walk.
Years 3 & 4
Students evaluated their designs and presented their completed Wonderland creations in a final showcase.
Years 5 & 6
Students completed assessments, refined their designs, and created portfolios to showcase their full learning journey.
It has been wonderful to see students across all year levels thinking like scientists, designing like engineers, and creating like artists. This term has been full of curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning.
