Prep

We have been learning about the sounds that ‘r’, ‘l’, and ‘w’ make. Students have been working hard on their personal reading list words, with some of our Preps completing and achieving all 6 lists. Once students have mastered reading these, the next challenge is to work through the lists to be able to spell these. Over the holidays, we will be sending home a laminated 100 chart to practise writing numbers, as well as oral counting, and new word lists for reading.

In Maths, we have been learning about length, and using vocabulary to describe it, such as tall, short, tallest, shortest, compare, height, big, little, and tiny. We have used informal units, such as unifix, counters, hands, and feet, to measure and compare everyday objects in our classrooms. We even compared the heights of students in the class. We have also been revising the days of the week using Jack Hartmann and to the tune of the 'Addams Family’. We have looked at what day was yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

In Integrated Studies, we have been learning about Community Helpers and their roles. We have enjoyed sharing photos from the past about important milestones and memories in our life. We have also looked at different toys and how they have changed from past to present.

A big thank you to our work experience students from Luther College and Norwood Secondary College over the past fortnight who have supported classroom teachers, small groups, and our specialist programs. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours and hope that you enjoyed your time at YRPS.

This term is a wrap and our Preps have been involved in so many first time experiences this semester, which have included the Teddy Bears Picnic, Cross Country, Crazy Hair Day, Athletics Sports, Buddy activities, The Lego Bricks for Kids Incursion, and Donut Day.

We wish you all a very safe and relaxing holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 13th July. Term 3 looks to be exciting as we get ready and prepare for our whole-school Production. This is going to be an amazing event!
