Remarkable Achievements

Two of the current students of the College made their senior debuts in the SFL Premier League recently.

 

Year 9 student played his first senior game with Glenorchy in its game against Clarence on 10 May.  Jake, a member of the Devil’s Academy, is the son of Ben Beams, who played AFL football with Melbourne, and is the younger brother of the Glenorchy captain, Harrison Gunther (svc 2012-15).  Glenorchy is coached by another OV, Josh Arnold (svc 2009-12).

 

In his third senior game, Jake kicked two vital last-quarter goals to enable his Magpies to defeat the previously unbeaten Lauderdale.

On the 24 May, Year 10 student Louis Sylvester made his senior debut for Clarence in its win against North Hobart.  Louis is the son of OV Michael Sylvester  (svc 1989-94). 

 

Michael was a member of the St Virgil’s College Board / Advisory Council from 2019-24.

The December 2020 edition of OVAtion carried a story on the accolades received by Blueline Laundry since Michael assumed the role of its Chief Executive, as well as an overview of his outstanding professional career.
