CRANE, Stephen John 02.09.1960 - 01.04.2025  (SVC 1973-77)

Loved son of Barbara Dulcie (nee Elmer) (dec.) and Francis William (Peter) Crane (dec) (svc 1936-44). Adored husband to Annie (Annette), incredible father to Ella, Hannah and fur baby Banjo.

Brother of Michael (svc 1973-76)

A friend to many.

FREEMAN, John Francis  25.01.1943 - 06.05.2025 (SVC 1954-59)

John sadly passed away surrounded by family and loved ones after a short illness at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Much loved and adored husband of Judy (dec.), father of Mark, David and Katy (dec.).

Father-in-law of Kritsana (Mimi) and Diana. Grandfather of Georgia, Eva and Thomas. Much loved and adored brother-in-law of Mick Reynolds (SVC 1961-62 dec.), Sharon, Anne, Annette and Don, Gayle and Frank and adored by all his nieces and nephews and their children. Rest in Peace, John.

KALINIECKI Peter Antoni 06.05.1954 - 18.04.2025 (SVC 1964-72)Beloved son of Alojzy and Eugenia (both dec.)

Loving brother of Sophie and Teresa. Loved uncle of Anna and Joel, and great-uncle of Evie.

ROACH Daniel (Danny) 22.04.1942 - 24.04.2025 (SVC 1951-59)

Dan attended the College (svc 1854-59). He joined the Bank of New South Wales in 1960 and his career in banking saw him take up appointments in  Hobart (twice), Melbourne, Adelaide (twice) and Port Augusta.  Dan retired in Adelaide in 2001.

Dan is survived wife Christine, children – Kirsten, Penny, Gregory & and Stuart, along with seven grandchildren .

In 1959, Dan was deputy head prefect and captained the First XVIII. Dan and his older brother Bill went onto play football with the Hobart Football Club. Both were members of the Hobart-Carlton Surf Lifesaving Club and both played water polo, squash and golf. (Bill is an Honorary Life Member of the Old Virgilians’ Association and was its Treasurer for many years.)

DONOGHUE, Barry, Tasman 01.01.1935 – 23.05.2025  (SVC 1942-50)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family.

Beautiful Barry was the loving husband to the late Dorothy (Dot), father to

Scott (svc 1971-79), Leigh (svc 1974 – 82) , Melissa and Lisa and grandfather to many – who loved him dearly.

We will all miss this incredible man and our lives are richer for having had so many years with him.

GATES, Andrew Geoffrey 11.04.1953 – 15.05.2025  (svc 1965-68)

An adventurous larrikin, loved friend, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his devoted partner, Leonnie; his children and their partners - Simon & Shona, Michael and Claire, Rachael & Fred, Stephen, and Marc & Laura; and his grandchildren, Reuben, Minna, Jessie, Meredith, Alastair, Delilah, Camille, and Rosie.
