From the President

Dear Old Virgilians,

My thanks to Past President Ed Gauden and College Advisory Council Chair, Andrew Mazengarb, for attending the annual general meeting. I also extend my thanks to Damian Bugg and Bill Ayliffe for their attendance and support of the committee over the last 12 months. All present were pleased by the update on College activities provided by the Acting Principal, Mr Daniel Lapolla.

Attendance was overall disappointing as this provided a good opportunity for those interested in the future directions of the College and the role of OVA.

Results of the Annual General Meeting of the OVAheld at The Tasmanian Hockey Centre – the Function Centre at 7.30 pm on Thursday 27 March 2025. All resolutions were passed at the meeting unanimously.

Development of Alumni Database and OVA membership 

Your committee resolved to allocate OVA funding to consolidate records of school alumni and Old Virgilian members collectively and in conjunction with the College. The Committee has already taken steps to find a suitable system that will be broad enough for future requirements of membership and alumni communication.

Recruitment of Community Engagement and Development Officer

The OVA will shortly be advertising for a Community Engagement and Development Officer funded by the OVA to collaborate with members and the community alongside the College in advancing the contributions of Old Virgilians to the College community.
