Year 5/6 News

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing break and enjoyed some quality time together. It has been fantastic to see our students return with such enthusiasm and excitement for another busy and rewarding term. We are looking forward to making the most of all the wonderful opportunities and experiences ahead.
A wonderful way to begin the term has been our Urban Camp. It has been fantastic to see the students out and about, enjoying their time in the city, exploring new places and experiences, and spending time together. The camp has provided students with many opportunities to develop their independence, confidence and teamwork while creating some fantastic memories with their friends.
This term promises to be a very busy and exciting one for our Grade 5/6 students. Our Grade 5/6 businesses will be getting underway, giving students the opportunity to develop their creativity, teamwork, communication and entrepreneurial skills.
Our Literacy unit this term will centre around the mentor text The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Students will explore the features of fantasy narratives, including mystical settings, intriguing characters and the challenges faced by heroes and villains, as they prepare to create their own stories. Along the way, they will discover new vocabulary to enhance their writing while continuing to develop their comprehension and reading fluency skills.
For our Grade 6 students, this is a particularly special term as they begin preparing for their Graduation. We will also have our much-anticipated Big Day Out, providing students with the chance to celebrate their time at primary school and create some wonderful memories together.
As we move through the term, we will also be busy with assessment and reporting. While there is certainly plenty happening, we are excited about the learning, challenges, celebrations and opportunities that lie ahead. We look forward to a fantastic term together!
