Welcome back to Term 4

LITERACY

This term we continue our whiteboard word work, revising all the different sounds we have learnt, including the long vowels and digraphs. This fortnight we have been focused on the ph, wh, wr sound and the spelling rules of when to use a ck at the end of words and what gets a C or a K at the beginning of words.

We have now started a Narrative unit, and have been exploring the characters problems and solutions whilst reading. We have also revisited how to retell and summarise the story to better improve their comprehension skills.

The Preps have also been enjoying using their imaginations to write a personal/realistic narrative where their stories could happen in real life. "A Crazy day at school" and "As I entered the cave" have been their story starters.

MATHS

In Maths, we have been exploring 2 digit numbers to 100. Looking at the place value and number patterns to order from the smallest to largest.
