Wellbeing - Senior School

Last Friday, students in Years 10, 11 and 12 heard from Old Boy Paul Turley (’00), founder of What4 Services, who shared a powerful message about road safety, accountability, resilience and the lasting consequences of poor choices. Speaking with great honesty, Paul reflected on the life-changing impact of a decision he made as a young man, when driving under the influence led to a fatal accident, imprisonment and profound consequences for all involved. He also spoke about the ways he has rebuilt his life through personal change, service to others and a commitment to helping young people make wise decisions. The students engaged respectfully with Paul’s story, it serving as a compelling reminder that while one poor choice can have devastating consequences, responsibility, growth and positive change remain possible.

Testimonials
“Today’s presentation was powerful and eye opening, showing how a poor decision can completely change a person’s life. Hearing how he took responsibility for his actions and worked to become a better man highlighted the importance of making positive choices and learning from mistakes.”- Andrew (Year 12)
Paul's speech was a wake-up call for many of us older boys here at St Pat’s. It reminded us of how every single choice (even the little ones) we make has an impact on our life and how our lives can change in the matter of seconds. However, Paul also reminded us as Christians the power of forgiveness and working towards ‘righting our wrongs’ and making up for our mistake and how we are never too far gone to be forgiven by Jesus. Overall, the speech was an essential reminder for us boys to be grateful within our lives and remember to make the right choices.” - James B (Year 12)
