This week’s article comes from the Head of Rugby, Mr Tatola.

It was an outstanding weekend for Junior School Rugby, highlighted by impressive wins over two of Sydney’s established rugby colleges, Cranbrook School and Waverley College. Our Prep As continued their strong run of form with a commanding performance in the Eastern Suburbs, securing a confident victory over Cranbrook. Their structure, discipline, and willingness to play positive rugby were clear from the opening whistle, and they maintained control throughout the match.

Back on Breen Oval, the 11Cs and 11As made every opportunity count, delivering two excellent results against Waverley College. Both teams showed great intent with ball in hand and a strong defensive work rate, turning pressure into points and demonstrating the depth of talent within our junior program. The 11Bs have showed great improvement each week and are certainly working towards a victory.

Throughout the week, the following boys headed off to IPSHA Rugby Trials at Shore School – Jack W, Maroun A, Coby Y, Tristan Y, Thomas L, Xavier G and Samuel U.

In a tough day of competition with a tick over 100 students trialling, four SPC students were selected; Samuel U, Coby Y, Tristan Y and Thomas L. Congratulations to all involved, you represented the College with pride and distinction, and we continue to hold a strong presence among these representative teams.

A special highlight of the weekend was seeing several of our First XV players step into the role of referees for the younger age groups. Their presence on the field brought calm guidance, encouragement, and a sense of connection across the program. It was a terrific example of our students giving back to the community and modeling the values we want to instill in our juniors.

Junior School Rugby continues to build momentum, with strong performances matched by an equally strong sense of culture and camaraderie.

With heavy rain forecasts for the week there are likely to be many disruptions to training and games this weekend. It is very important that you are across all the changes that are possible for the remainder of the week. Please read all notifications carefully. If you don’t receive a notification, it is not a mistake, it means that there have been no changes to your son’s schedule and he is to turn up at training or his game as per the schedule.
