Reminder: Year 11 Parent/Teacher Interviews – Semester 1 Report
With Year 11 Semester 1 Reports now available via the TASS Parent Lounge, parents/carers may book parent/teacher interview time slots themselves via the same platform using the interview tab until this Friday 29 May at 9:00 AM. The College will not be allocating interview times.
The Year 11 interviews are for six minutes with a two-minute break between each interview to allow the process to run smoothly. Please note that parents/carers cannot double book a teacher for a longer interview. Should more interview time be required, parents/carers may arrange with the teacher another mutually suitable time.
Parents/carers are encouraged to book interviews with all their sons’ teachers. As the Year 11 interviews will be conducted in the College Gymnasium on Monday 1 June from 3:40 PM to 9:00 PM, there is an expectation that students are present for the interviews, in uniform and well-groomed in accordance with the College’s rules.

Mathematics – Pathway to Advanced and Pathway to Standard placement in Stage 5
At the end of Year 8, students are placed into one of two Year 9 Mathematics Pathways based on a comprehensive review of their performance. This includes results from all assessment tasks, overall assessment averages, class ranking, AAS testing data, and teacher recommendation and feedback.
Placement is determined by a student’s overall performance and relative ranking within the cohort across all data. It is important to note that a grade of B does not automatically result in placement in the Advanced Pathway, as the B range (70 -85) encompasses a broad variation of achievement.
Final decision placement lies with the Head of Mathematics Department along with the Assistant Head of Mathematics and in consultation with the class teacher if necessary. Students are placed in pathways that align with their academic achievement, informed by multiple data sources and their individual learning needs. As a College, we continuously monitor and review each student’s progress, enabling us to clearly understand the skills and knowledge required to successfully access and succeed in each pathway course.
While we acknowledge that not all placement outcomes will align with parent and student preference, we ask that families trust our professional judgement and respect that decisions have been reached through a fair, consistent and evidence-informed process, with the best interests of each student’s learning as the priority.
