From the Acting Principal

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 5 of the term. This year is flying.

Staff News

This term we say farewell to our founding Principal, Suzanne Armstrong. From the early planning stages through to the vibrant, thriving community Hamlyn Views is  today, Suzanne  has played an enormous role in shaping the culture, values, and direction of the school.

We thank Suzanne  for the passion and commitment she has given to our school and wish her all the very best in the next chapter of her journey. She leaves behind a legacy we will carry forward with pride.

I will continue in the role of Acting Principal until the recruitment process for a new principal is complete, ensuring stability and consistency for our school community during this transition.

Kate Cole has returned to  school this term after a period of leave. Kate is team teaching with Kaleesha Verdichizzi in one of our senior classrooms.

Ruby Moloney has also returned to school after some leave but in a very different role. Ruby is our new student wellbeing officer.

We also look forward to welcoming our Leading Teacher Sam Simpkin back to school next week.

 Fundraising.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in and supported our Annual Trivia Night, especially our wonderful School Council Fundraising Committee who put so much effort into making it happen. It was a night full of fun, laughter and community spirit—and together we raised an incredible $2,090! These funds will go towards equipment for our Senior Learning Community’s outdoor spaces, which our students will really benefit from.

We also had a fantastic response to our Pyjama Day, with $133 raised through gold coin donations. Thank you for getting behind these events—your support makes such a difference!

The Parent Opinion  Survey

We’re inviting all parents, caregivers and guardians to take part in this year’s Opinion Survey—we’d really love to hear your thoughts! The survey, provided by the Department of Education, gives us valuable feedback about our school’s climate, student behaviour and engagement. Your input helps guide our planning and future goals, so your voice really does make a difference.

So far,  7% of our families have responded, which doesn’t give us the full picture. We’d really appreciate your participation to help lift that number and make sure everyone’s voice is heard.

The survey is available in 11 languages. If you need assistance accessing or completing it, please visit us—we have iPads available at the Admin office for your use. The survey will remain open until the end of the term, so there’s still plenty of time to share your thoughts. You can access it using the link and PIN below:

Medication at School

We are able to administer regular medications that students need during the school day. However, short-term medications such as antibiotics, vitamins, or similar should be given at home before or after school wherever possible. This helps us keep medication routines safe and manageable at school.

Upcoming Events.

We’re looking forward to seeing fun and learning come together today through our book Week activities. It’s hard to tell who gets more excited about dressing up for Book Week—the students or the staff! Their enthusiasm is sure to be contagious, and it will be wonderful to watch everyone across the school get involved in the activities.

SSG meetings are scheduled for September 8th, 9th, and 10th. To streamline the booking process, we are using Compass' online booking system, which is live and open for bookings now. If  you encounter any issues with online booking , please contact your child’s teacher through Admin or Seesaw to make an appointment.

Our Fathers Day stall will be held on Friday 5th September. Students will be  making and flying  paper aeroplanes throughout the day.  Fathers and special people will be invited onsite to join in this fun activity. Details to follow soon.

Tuesday 16th Sept ( last week of term) will be footy colours day. We are also hoping to have a special lunch orders on that day too.
