Sporting Achievements
We’ve only just begun Term 2, and already our Intermediate and Senior Volleyball teams have competed at the regional level. Our AFL and Netball campaigns are also underway, with the Senior Boys AFL team and Intermediate and Senior Girls Netball teams competing earlier this week. The action continues on Monday, 5th May, as our Year 7 AFL and Netball teams take part in their InterSchool competitions.
All of our teams have shown exceptional teamwork and spirit. Our Girls' Netball team and our AFL team celebrated well-earned victories, while our Netball teams battled hard to secure some impressive draws. Meanwhile, our other teams came incredibly close to victory, showcasing their determination and skill.
We wish all our teams the best of luck and hope they have a fantastic time at their upcoming competitions this month!
Year 7 Netball Development Program
On Thursday, 1st May, we were excited to welcome highly respected coach, David Sollberger, from the Pakenham Lions Netball Club to the College for the first session of our Year 7 Netball Development Program.
Our students had a fantastic morning and quickly warmed up despite the early start. David made the session fun, energetic and inclusive for everyone involved.
The program is free and open to all Year 7 students (boys and girls). If you’re interested in taking part, please register by clicking the button below - or put your name down at the Student Window!
Don’t forget to bring your runners and a water bottle — netballs will be provided!
DAVID SOLLBERGER - PAKENHAM LIONS NETBALL CLUB - BIOGRAPHY
David began his netball journey after playing high-level basketball as a teenager, and since making the switch to netball, he has never looked back. With a deep passion for the game, David played for Victoria, captaining the U19 Victorian Men's team to a National Championship. He also competed in three national tournaments for men's netball.
With over 20 years of experience playing mixed netball, David has been coaching at the Pakenham Lions Netball Club for the past four years. He holds an Intermediate Netball Australia coaching qualification and currently coaches U15 and Open D Grade teams. David is deeply committed to helping players, whether they are beginners or aiming for top-level performance, get the most out of the sport. He believes that sport plays a significant role in personal growth, both on and off the court.
Pakenham Warriors Basketball Program
We kicked off our first training session for Term 2 on Friday, 2nd May, and it was a fantastic start. We’re incredibly fortunate to have an experienced State Championship player from the Pakenham Warriors leading our sessions, bringing high-level skills and energy to the court.
This free program is open to all students from Year 7 to 10, and you can join at any time during the term. Training takes place every Friday morning from 7:45am to 8:30am in our gymnasium. All you need to bring are your runners, a basketball (if you have one), and a water bottle.
Whether you're new to the game or an experienced player, everyone is welcome to take part! You don't need to sign up - just come along next Friday, 9th May.
We look forward to seeing even more students joining the program as the term progresses!
