Congratulations Sebastien

Congratulations to year 10 student Sebastien, who is competing in the AFL Blind competition for the Port Melbourne Football Club.

Sebastien has been involved in the AFL Blind program for 2 years. Games are played in an indoor stadium with rules similar to those of outdoor AFL.

Games are played against other clubs such as Hawthorn and St Kilda. Sebastien enjoys the fast pace of the game with the ball being on the ground a lot, leading to a lot of contested ball situations. He trains with the team once a week.

Congratulations Angus

Congratulations to Angus, who competed in the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships held in Perth over the holidays. Angus competed in the U15 3000m walk and finished in second place with a Personal Best time of 14 min 21 seconds, averaging a speed of 12.54 km/h. Angus also competed in an older age group in the U17 5000m walk, which was a great experience for him.

SSV State Swimming and Diving Medallists

Early May, two of our students headed out to MSAC for the School Sport Victoria State Finals in Swimming and Diving. First, Jackson on the diving boards was where both the regional and state finals were held in one day.

A huge congratulations to Jackson, who won both the Eastern Regional event as well as the State Final.

The next day, Sierra competed in the 3 events that she had qualified for through the Eastern Region finals – 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, and 200m IM. The State Final for swimming is always a really tough event with some fabulous swimmers. Sierra came away with a silver medal in the 50m Freestyle event and a bronze medal in the 50m Backstroke event for the 14 14-year-old girls. Congratulations Sierra!
