Breakfast Club
This term, we have introduced Breakfast Club to Blackburn High School, as an opportunity to build connections and enjoy some delicious food! We have consistently had over 130 people access the Breakfast Club each week. There are many breakfast items to choose from including cheese toasties, hot chocolate and lots of cereal and fruit options. We also have gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives. We are very grateful to Foodbank Victoria and Woolworths for supplying an assortment of breakfast items each week for our school community to enjoy.
“Breakfast Club is a nice and safe environment to come to on Wednesday morning to get a cheese toastie.”

As Breakfast Club Helpers, we have enjoyed creating a positive and inclusive environment where students can come chill and have a nice, tasty breakfast, away from the cold in the G1 building.
Breakfast Club is every Wednesday morning at 8:15 am – 8:45 am in G1.
We cannot wait to see everyone at Breakfast Club next Semester!

Peaceful Teens
Year 7 students involved in the Peaceful Teens Program run by the Wellbeing Team have been undertaking mindfulness-based activities that focus on being present and being attuned to their bodies and minds. Mindfulness has been found to reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress and build individual resilience. In the program, teens learn both informal and formal mindfulness techniques, including gardening, meditation and journalling.
Students involved in the program have enjoyed making meaningful connections with their peers, learning about the brain and the role of the amygdala by making their own plasticine brain, and how practicing mindfulness has a calming effect on our bodies and minds.
Soup Kitchen
On Monday 30th June, the Wellbeing Team, along with the Wellbeing and Inclusion Team Leaders and a group of student volunteers, hosted a special Soup Kitchen lunch for our students.
In an effort to bring warmth and comfort during the colder months, students were invited to enjoy a free cup of hot soup. A selection of delicious options was available, including chicken noodle, beef and vegetable, and pumpkin soup.
Beyond providing a nourishing meal, the Soup Kitchen was a meaningful opportunity to foster connection and community. Events like these play an important role in promoting student wellbeing, helping to create a more inclusive, supportive, and positive school environment where everyone feels they belong.
