VCE Drama Ensembles Performance Night

For 10 weeks the VCE Drama students worked very hard to devise an ensemble performance.

Students work with a given stimulus material and guidelines that provide a starting point for the structure of a performance. They apply their knowledge of ways other drama practitioners work to devise and shape their work to communicate meaning and to have an impact on their audience in specific and intentional ways.

Students apply play-making techniques to extract dramatic potential from the stimulus, and devise and develop characters, story and meaning in the presentation of the ensemble performance.

This year, students were given the stimulus topic of "Australian's in the Face of Crisis". Students' performances centre around themes of;

Survival, Against the Odds, Community, Courage, Connection to Nature, Hope and Human Nature, Crisis Response.

Year 10 Drama Performance:  Us and Them

In Week 7 of Term 2, Blackburn High School’s Year 10 Drama and Theatre Studies class proudly presented Us and Them, written by James Saunders and adapted by Mr Whitsed.

This performance evening marked the culmination of a term of dedication, creativity, commitment, skill and growth as young theatre makers.

 Students immersed themselves in the process of staging a published play, working collaboratively as an ensemble-style theatre company and taking on a wide range of

roles - both on stage and behind the scenes. This is an excellent opportunity that is available to Year 10 students who undertake the new Dramatic Arts subject as an elective.

A massive thank you is extended to the families, friends, and fellow students that were in attendance.
