Secondary School Hackathon 2024

Congratulations to our award winning STEM students Anya Doshi, Leah Keeghan, Jessica Weisbac and Aliezah Santos who took out the top prize at the 2024 Secondary School Hackathon.

The Hackathon was part of a partnership between the Centre of Excellence with Reconstruction NSW aligned to flood awareness, preparedness and safety in the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley.

The Hackathon is a design thinking approach to problem solving utilised in industry. This program involved teams of four students participating over two days in a face-to-face Hackathon at the Western Sydney University Hawkesbury campus. The Hackathon was based on teamwork to design a solution to a real world problem, with students having access to industry experts and scientists in the areas of meteorology, hydrology, communications and policy making to address the issue of community preparedness and safety in flood valleys, in particular the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley.

We are proud of these students and can’t wait to see their next STEM initiative.
