Accounting & Financial Services Presentation
On Tuesday, 3rd June, Year 10 students were given a valuable presentation into the world of accounting and financial services. Representatives from local firms including Dodgshun Medlin, GMG Financial Group, Logan & Hall, PDF Accounting, and Pooles Accountants & Tax Specialists visited the school to introduce the 2025 “Set Your Heart on a Career in Accounting & Financial Services” Work Experience Week.
This work experience program, coordinated by the Murray Mallee Local Learning & Employment Network (MMLLEN), is set to run during the week of Tuesday, 2nd September, and will conclude with a CBD tour and luncheon on Friday, 5th September.
During their visit, the guest speakers outlined how the work experience week will provide hands-on exposure to the finance sector. They also shared their personal career stories, spoke about the diversity of roles available in accounting, from tax and business advisory to financial planning.
Any interested Year 10 students still have time to drop in their expression of interest form into Anna in her pathways office.
ADF Presentation
Meanwhile, our Year 11 VCE VM students, along with other interested students, had the chance to explore a very different—but equally rewarding—career path with a recent visit from the Australian Defence Force.
Delivered by two current serving members, the ADF presentation showcased the vast range of career opportunities across the Navy, Army, and Air Force. Students learned about roles in engineering, healthcare, logistics, IT, aviation, and even trades, with a strong emphasis on leadership, teamwork, and lifelong learning.
Whether it’s through full-time service, the ADF Gap Year program, or the Defence University Sponsorship, there are multiple pathways to suit different interests and aspirations.
The presenters shared personal experiences of training, deployment, and study, helping students understand that a career in the ADF offers not just service to the nation, but also valuable skills, qualifications, and life experience.
