LANGUAGES WEEK
MS JESSICA CURTIS - LANGUAGES CURRICULUM LEADER
Last week, our school came alive with the sights, sounds, and flavours of Languages Week—a vibrant celebration of the many cultures and languages that enrich our community. A very big thank you to the staff and students who took the time to share their language with the school each morning.
From the first bell to the final whistle, students and staff immersed themselves in a variety of activities designed to promote cultural awareness, creativity, and connection. The week kicked off with the mouth-watering Arepa stall, where students sampled these delicious South American treats. Not only was it a tasty treat, but it also served a great cause—raising funds for Act for Peace, supporting humanitarian efforts around the globe.
Throughout the week, students took part in themed activities including Bingo, Fan Decorating, and Calligraphy sessions that introduced students to the beauty and discipline of traditional scripts.
The highlight for many, however, was the much-anticipated Staff vs Students Futsal Match. The energy was electric as both teams showcased skill, teamwork, and friendly rivalry, much to the delight of the cheering crowd. Congratulations to the staff who came away with the 1-0 win!
Languages Week was more than just fun—it was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate diversity, support a good cause, and come together as a school community. A huge thank you to all the staff and students for their involvement in the activities, particularly Nathan Lane, Diana Cetina, Chiaki Green and Grace Scott, who made these activities possible.
