Goodbye Term 3

We have officially made it to the end of a fantastic, fun-filled term highlighted by our Book Week celebrations and Footy Day! Inside the classrooms, the children have been hard at work sharpening their skills for next year and building their confidence each and every day. We hope all of our families enjoy a wonderful, safe, and restful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to learn on Monday, October 5th!

Reminders

Please ensure all homework folders are returned to school by Friday. We will be collecting them over the school holidays to prepare for the upcoming term. During the break, we encourage all students to keep up their reading habits by enjoying books at home or taking a trip to borrow some new favourites from the local library!

Footy day

It was fantastic to see so many students proudly wearing their favourite footy colours and sports gear! Energy levels were high all day as the children joined their house teams for a series of exciting rotation activities. Students showed off their creativity by folding detailed paper origami jerseys and designing their own custom footballs, before heading out to the basketball courts to run through drills, practice their kicks, and hone their handpassing skills. Thank you to all our students for bringing so much enthusiasm and house spirit to a wonderful day!

Book week

Book Week was an absolute blast for everyone involved! The children had a wonderful time exploring the Book Fair and putting together their favorite wishlists to take home. We were also thrilled to welcome so many parents, families, and grandparents for a special morning tea and a shared story. To top it all off, our Book Week parade was a spectacular celebration, showcasing an amazing array of costumes. A huge thank you to all the families for creating, building, and buying such incredible outfits, the children had an unforgettable day!

Literacy Grade 2s

In Grade 2 Literacy, we have been diving deep into information texts by exploring fact files about Sir David Attenborough. A special thank you to Aurelia in 1/2LT, who brought in a book from home featuring a David Attenborough fact file to help us examine the structure and key features of non-fiction texts.

Building on these skills, the students turned their research efforts toward Saint Francis Xavier, our school's patron saint and the patron saint of Australia. Applying their sentence writing techniques to non-fiction formatting, the children wrote informative profiles organized under three key subheadings: Where He Was Born, His Travels, and His Career. It was wonderful to see them building both their literacy skills and their knowledge of our school's identity!

Maths

In Grade 1 Maths, students have been hard at work exploring the foundations of sharing and grouping. To sharpen their fluency skills, the children created colourful "Rainbow Partitions of 10" to visualize pairs of numbers that add up to 10. Moving into next term, we will kick things off by investigating Data before diving into Addition and Subtraction. It is fantastic to see their mathematical confidence growing every day!

Inquiry

This term in Inquiry, our Grade 1/2 students have had a fantastic time learning all about robots! To cap off our unit, the students put their coding skills to the test by programming a robot to navigate around a room and pick up items. Working on grid paper maps similar to our Bee-Bots, they practiced breaking down movements step-by-step, issuing precise single commands to guide their robots successfully. It was a wonderful hands-on project that brought their problem-solving and digital technology skills to life!

Italian- Bread making

Our Grade 1/2 students enjoyed a delicious hands-on lesson in Italian this week as they made their very own bread with Ms. Kellie! The children loved learning the process step-by-step and were so proud to take their fresh creations home to share with their families.

Wally & Ringo

Our class teddy friends, Wally and Ringo, have had some wonderful adventures this term! After so much excitement, they are taking a well-deserved rest over the holidays to recharge for the term ahead. If your child hasn't had the chance to take Wally or Ringo home yet, don't worry, they will have an opportunity next term. As a friendly reminder for when we return, our teddy friends head home with students on Fridays and need to be returned on Mondays so everyone can share their weekend adventures with the class!
