We Want Your Unwanted Children's Books!

As part of our Book Week celebrations, Mount Carmel College is once again excited to participate in the National Book Swap, a wonderful initiative that raises funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation is a national charity that works in partnership with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia to provide culturally relevant books and literacy resources helping children develop a love of reading and supporting communities in creating and publishing stories in their own languages.

How You Can Help

We are inviting families to donate pre-loved children's books that are in good condition. To ensure the Book Swap is suitable for our students, we ask that all donated books be appropriate for children and young adults. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept books written for an adult audience.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the library and, with a gold coin donation, choose a book to take home. The event is always a highlight during Book Week, with students enjoying the chance to discover new stories while supporting an important cause. We encourage students of all year levels to get involved.

What Happens to the Remaining Books?

Any books that are not selected during the Book Swap will be donated to Library Aid Abroad and local Street Libraries, ensuring they continue to bring joy to readers.

Thank you for your support. Every donated book and gold coin contribution helps put books into the hands of children who need them most.
