From the Principal

As we come to the end of Term Two, I reflect on the hard work, resilience, and commitment of our students and staff. From the Interhouse Athletics carnival, sporting finals, Vinnies Winter Appeal, to our Annual Music Showcase, and much more, the talent and passion displayed by our students has been nothing short of inspiring. Whether it was individual brilliance, or achieving great things as a group, the Lights of Excellence and Creativity have certainly been on display for all to see.
It's been truly pleasing to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of our students and staff as they prepare for the upcoming musical, Matilda JR. With production week fast approaching, the energy and excitement are building every day. We warmly encourage families to secure their tickets early.
With Semester One reports released this week, it's a wonderful opportunity for families to sit down with their child and celebrate the progress they've made. I encourage parents to take time and acknowledge their child’s achievements, as well as reflect on areas for growth. These reports can spark meaningful conversations about learning, effort, and future goals, helping to inspire continued success in the terms ahead.
As we come to the end of the semester, I also look back on the privilege I’ve had to lead the College as Acting Principal. I feel extremely blessed and am deeply grateful for the support, encouragement, and trust extended to me by students, staff, and families alike. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to others who have stepped into acting roles these past eight months.
To Margarita Tranquille (Acting Vice Principal), John Bulich (Acting Deputy Principal Middle School) and Louise Di Giacomo (Acting Head of Year 10); your leadership, adaptability, and dedication have been instrumental in ensuring continuity and care across the College. As we welcome the return of Karen Prendergast next term, each of us look forward to continuing our service to the Lumen community in our substantive roles.
As we head into the school holidays, I wish all families a safe, restful, and joyful break. May it be a time of reconnection and renewal, and we look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, 21 July.
Thank you once again for your continued support of our College. I look forward to all that Term Three will bring.
God bless.
