Certificate III in Music Students Gain Valuable Industry Experience
Our Year 12 Certificate III in Music students were recently given the opportunity to visit a professional recording studio, funded by a government grant from the City of Gosnells, to gain valuable industry experience. This hands-on opportunity allowed them to interact with professionals, observe daily operations, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. The excursion deepened their understanding of music production and better prepared them for future careers in the industry.
Year 10 Business Bites
A group of Year 10 students recently invited me to attend their Business Bites class, supervised by Just Start IT founder Lainey Weiser. Students are working on a business project, and I was asked to provide advice about future careers and how to assist students who are having difficulty finding a suitable career pathway. It was a pleasure to visit the students, and I was impressed with the innovative business ideas they had developed.
Year 9 Career Curious
Recently we were lucky to have SMTAFE visit us to facilitate the Year 9 Career Curious workshop. Students explored various career paths using VR headsets, immersing themselves in different professions for a unique perspective on potential future careers. They also created their own career profiles and bulls-eye charts, helping them visualise and plan their career goals. This hands-on experience was both engaging and educational, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the students. We look forward to more exciting opportunities like this to inspire our young learners.
Year 11 Speed Careering
On Monday, 30 June the Year 11 students were fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a Speed Career event held at the College. The aim was to provide our students with valuable insights into various career paths and industries, helping them make informed decisions about their future. During the event, students had the opportunity to engage in brief, focused conversations with professionals from diverse fields. We were fortunate to have several alums and parent voice participants join us for this event.
