Learning Behaviours

Our Vision for Learning – ‘Discover Together’ – inspires excellence within a welcoming and inclusive community. Staff are deeply committed to this vision, guided by the pedagogical principles of Connect, Explore, and Empower. This term began with a Professional Learning Day, where staff reflected on best practices to support students in developing positive behaviours and engaging meaningfully in their learning. Each staff member has set professional learning goals, and keynote speaker Dinda Timperon shared strategies for achieving sustainable success. Throughout the term, Heads of Learning Areas have also engaged in professional inquiry to enhance student outcomes across subjects.
Students have now received their Semester One reports, in which their teachers have reported on Learning Behaviours aligned with our Vision for Learning. Students are acknowledged as demonstrating each Learning Behaviour in the categories of ‘Always’, ‘Often’, ‘Sometimes’ or ‘Rarely’. We encourage students to reflect on which behaviours they can focus on improving in Semester Two. Research shows that small, consistent changes lead to significant growth over time. For example, a student aiming to improve their Engagement might set a goal to ask one question or share one idea during class discussions each day. Over time, this builds confidence and a mindset to contribute effectively to discussion more regularly.
So we ask: What’s one change you can make next semester to improve your learning?
