Around The College

Leadership Expo
Last Thursday, our Year 12 Student Leaders staged a Leadership Expo in the MPC, for Secondary students interested in driving change and engagement at the College. Our Year 12 Student Leaders each head up a team with a specific focus, including Agriculture and Environment, Community and Culture, Ministry, Music, Sports, SRC, Wellbeing and Worship.
The event was a great success with many students from Years 7 to 12, signing up for an active role in the team of their choice.
Building on Learning
With the design phase well underway and the timber delivered, Year 12 Industrial Technology Timber students have commenced the hands-on production of their Major Projects.
The College’s Timber Workshop is well equipped to meet the student’s design choices. Coffee tables, bookshelves, cabinets, and a chest of drawers are just some of the furniture that has been designed and is under construction. Students have selected a range of timbers including Australian Cedar, Tasmanian Oak, Jarrah, Pine, Black Walnut, and Geronggang Timber.
Industrial Technology Timber Major Projects will be on display during HSC Showcase in Term 3.
Firing Up with Ceramics
The arrival of our new kiln has allowed our College to fire ceramics on campus.
Year 8, 9, and 10 Elective Ceramics students will be the first of our student cohort to use the kiln. There was much excitement amongst the students as they created their first ever clay vessel.
The Power of Line
Year 11 Visual Arts students have commenced the year exploring the art of portraiture. This activity encouraged students step out of their comfort zones and provided opportunities for experimentation. The students partnered with each other to make an initial tracing of each other’s face, and then worked to create a stylised portrait, using bold colours and sweeping lines. It was an enjoyable, instructive way to commence their studies in portraiture.
New to the Herd
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of a new calf. She joined the herd last Tuesday. Both the mother and calf are healthy and doing well. We are expecting the arrival of two more calves soon. Watch out for our naming competition!
