Principal’s Message
Dear Parents,
The first weeks of Term have moved quickly, and the College is beginning to settle into its rhythms. Over the past fortnight I’ve been reflecting with staff on Philippians 2, where Paul offers a beautiful poem describing the mindset of Jesus — the One who “made himself nothing,” “took the nature of a servant,” and “humbled himself.”
The poets of our own age — Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Sia, Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons and others — often sing a very different song. Their lyrics celebrate self‑definition, self‑exaltation, self‑sufficiency, and self‑protection. It’s the dominant message of our culture: a hyper‑focus on the self that can slowly detach us from reality, community, and meaning.
Paul’s challenge to the Philippians speaks sharply into this moment. What mindset do we carry into life? Do we humble ourselves, serve others, submit to God, and live from the identity He gives us? Do we allow His love to shape us into people of respect, integrity, diligence, and kindness? Or do we follow the self‑focused tune of our age?
If you were to write a poem about your own walk with Christ, what would it sound like? Light and joyful, heavy with lament, or something still being formed?
My encouragement is simple: let go of the hyper‑self‑focus of our culture and return again to the depth of Christ’s love. Let His example reshape our relationships and our daily posture. As Paul writes:
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Data Collection and Media Permission
Media Permission
At the start of the year, all students by default have been reset to ‘no permission’ for sharing photographs. Parents need to reset the permission option in their Compass App, if you are happy for us to share your child’s photographs either for internal publications (e.g., the newsletter, our annual ‘Common Ground’ yearbook), or publicly (e.g., social media, our website or other marketing). The permission option can be found under each student's profile on your Compass App. See images below for instructions. We’d love to keep this list accurate and will only share your child’s photographs with your permission.

NAPLAN
Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be sitting for their NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) assessments between March 11 and 23 this year. These tests provide helpful information about the progress of your child in these key learning areas. Further information for parents and carers about NAPLAN can be found online here. The College would like to encourage all students to participate in the program as it provides helpful feedback to students, parents, and the College on their learning, and informs our support for students. Parents and carers may apply to withdraw their child from the testing program on the basis of religious belief or philosophical objections. If you wish to apply to withdraw your child from NAPLAN test, please contact Dr Jackson (principal@wwcc.nsw.edu.au) no later than Friday 20 February 2026.

Traffic Management
E‑Scooter Safety Reminder
A reminder to all families that e‑scooters are currently illegal for use on public roads and footpaths in NSW. This means students must not ride e‑scooters to or from the College or use them in surrounding streets. For their safety, and to comply with NSW road rules, we ask parents to ensure e‑scooters are not used for school travel. Please see here for more information about e-scooters. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.
Carpark – Traffic Flow and Road Safety
Parent Drop Off
A reminder, as we commence the school year of the importance of road safety for our students.
- The speed limit within the College grounds is 10km/h.
- When dropping off a student, parents drive around the outside lane of the car park to the pick up/drop off zone outside the Canteen to drop off their child.
- Parents and students must cross the road using the pedestrian crossings provided. During peak periods, staff on duty (in hi-vis and with stop and go sign) will direct parents and students when to cross the pedestrian crossings to manage pedestrian numbers, movement and traffic flow. Please wait until the staff member indicates you may cross the pedestrian crossing. Your patience is appreciated.
Parent Pick Up
Pick up of students in the afternoon is a very busy time for our carpark, which can contribute to risks to students onsite, but also to cars stuck queuing on the road outside the College.
Please do not drive through empty carpark spaces from the central lane to access the exit lane within the College carpark.
To help alleviate the congestion of the carpark and Kooringal Road in the afternoon, the College requests the following:
- Families with only children in the Primary school arrive from 2:55pm to start the pick-up process.
- Families with children in both the Primary and Secondary school arrive from 3:10pm to start the pick-up process.
- If waiting in one of the three pick up spots for over 3 minutes, that parents either a) park in the College carpark to locate their child, or b) drive a loop around the carpark and re-join the queue so as not to block the flow of traffic.
The busy period in the carpark is between 3:00pm and 3:30pm. The College provides supervision until 4:00pm, families who would prefer to pick up their children between 3:30pm – 4:00pm to avoid and reduce the congestion are welcome to do so.
Please always remember that the College has very young children onsite and therefore to always drive slowly and carefully. We encourage any child under the age of 10 to hold hands with a parent while walking in the carpark area.

New College Staff
Halley Smith, HSIE Teacher
I am so thankful for the warm welcome I have received at the College. As Stage 5 Coordinator, I support the Wellbeing Team in caring for our Year 9 and 10 students, and I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know them.
With experience supporting Senior School students in pastoral care, I am passionate about encouraging and equipping young people as they navigate their secondary schooling and prepare for life beyond the classroom. I teach HSIE and love helping students make sense of the world around them as they engage with their learning.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, getting outdoors, and unwinding with a good book or a favourite show. I’m grateful to be part of a school community that values care, connection and faith, and I look forward to the year ahead.
Jack Hinds, Excursion Liaison Officer
My name is Jack Hinds, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the College’s new Excursion Liaison Officer. I recently made the move from Sydney to Wagga Wagga to pursue my studies and embrace a new lifestyle change. It has been a rewarding transition, and I’m thrilled to now be part of this wonderful College community.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Education (K-12), majoring in PDHPE, at Charles Sturt University. My passion for education and sport has shaped much of my professional journey so far. Alongside my role at the College, I work at Chronicle Athlete Development Centre as a Personal Trainer, where I support NDIS clients and run a children’s CrossFit program.
Previously, I worked at Kincoppal-Rose Bay School as the Head Sports Coordinator for Years 3-12, as well as Head Coach of the Athletics and Touch Football programs. I have also worked as an SLSO across several public and behaviour management schools, supporting students in diverse learning environments. Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to work as a Game Development Officer with the National Rugby League, working alongside the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters, further strengthening my commitment to youth sport and development.
I am truly grateful to be working at the College and contributing to this community. I am guided by the Lord and His challenges He places before me, striving to grow both personally and professionally through each opportunity. I look forward to building a strong rapport with my fellow staff and supporting our students in every way I can. I’m grateful to be here and excited for what’s ahead!
