Secondary School Swimming Carnival

Wagga Wagga Christian College enjoyed a truly wonderful Secondary School Swimming Carnival last week, blessed with beautiful weather and a joyful spirit of participation. We thank God for the sunshine, safety, and enthusiasm that made the day such a memorable success. Students filled the pool area with cheering, determination, and house pride. Whether swimming competitively or supporting their peers, the atmosphere reflected the heart of our College community—encouragement, effort, and enjoyment.

One of the standout highlights of the day was the Big Splash Competition, brilliantly led by Mr Gyles. His energy and tsunami brought the energy and cooled the crowd. It was a terrific reminder that carnivals are about more than just racing—they’re about celebrating our gifts, our friendships, and the fun of being together.

Another fantastic moment came during the Mass Point Swim, where the pool was filled from end to end with students eager to contribute points for their houses. The collective enthusiasm and whole‑school involvement created a powerful sense of unity and house pride.

A very special congratulations goes to Mackenzie Tarbit, who delivered two outstanding performances on the day, breaking two long‑standing school records:

  • 50m Butterfly
  • 200m Freestyle

These achievements reflect remarkable dedication and athleticism. Well done, Mackenzie!

Thank you to all students, staff, families, and volunteers who contributed to such a smooth and joy-filled event. We look forward to building on this momentum for future carnivals and continuing to celebrate the talents and enthusiasm of our College community.

Several of our students travelled to Penrith on 13 February, to compete in the CSSA Primary and Secondary Girls and Boys Basketball Trials.

Haven Poutu (Year 6) was successful in trialling for the CSSA Primary Girls Basketball Team. She was 1 of 10 students selected for the team made up of students from Sydney and the Illawarra.

The CSSA Secondary Boys 16&U and 19&U Basketball Trials 2026 were also held on the same day. Zac Robinson (Year 12) and Joel Azer (Year 11) were both selected to be a part of the CSSA Secondary Boys 19&U Basketball team.

The CSSA Primary Boys and Girls Teams will compete at the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Basketball Trials at Castle Hill, on 6 March 2026.

Mr Blake Cunningham, Teacher, said, this is a great achievement for our students. Years of hard work and dedication have paid off.
