Secondary School Message
The first couple of weeks have flown by, and we are pleased to see our students settling into routines and growing into the expectations around being diligent in their work, kind and respectful to others, and having a character of integrity.
I hope you were able to have some discussions as a family about goals for the year, and the ‘I will…so that…’ statements that your children could benefit from making. How can you encourage them in that commitment?
Something I love about our Swimming Carnival is the support that the students give each other, the leadership of the House Captains to build encouragement and participation, and that students demonstrate courage and perseverance by getting in the pool and competing in event after event, even if swimming is not a strength. Well done to all our students, and we pray for safety and a great time for those who are travelling to the Zone Carnival later this week.
We also have several of our students representing the College at triathlons, aquathons, and hockey this week.
Our student leaders hosted their annual Student Leadership Expo, an opportunity for Year 7-12 students to hear about what individual leadership teams are planning for the year and sign up to be part of the action! Our leaders prepared well for the event, with many secondary students visiting the MPC at lunchtime on Thursday to check out the options and sign up.
Students have been invited to participate in a survey about volunteering, as we seek to understand what our students are currently doing in this area, and help shape our thinking about how we shape future service opportunities.
Students have also been invited to apply for the Student Representative Council for Semester 1.
Open Night is coming up on Thursday 5th March. Many of our students will be serving, demonstrating, or performing and we look forward to seeing our families there. Please invite new families to book in for a tour via the College website.

Early Passion for Flying Leads to 1st Class Honours
Jackson Tenhave, Alumni, Class of 2021, pursued his passion for flying from childhood, through his schooling years at Wagga Wagga Christian College, and onto University.
Whilst at the College, Jackson studied Science Extension (1) for his HSC led by teacher Dr John Sewell. In this course, students propose and develop a research question, formulate a hypothesis and develop evidence-based responses to create their Scientific Research Report which is supported by a Scientific Research Portfolio. Jackson produced an exemplary report on the study on the aerodynamics of aircraft wings on model planes.
His dedication has seen him awarded with 1st Class Honours in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Aerospace Engineering) from the University of New South Wales, Australian Defence Force Academy campus.
His thesis titled, Sub-Scale Flight Testing of Drag Reduction Features for Amphibious Light Sport Aircraft was recently published in Aerospace 2026, 13(1), 59 on the 7 January 2026.
