Maddocks Gardens Performance
The string ensemble gave its annual performance at Maddocks Gardens on Wednesday 29th October. The string ensemble has a long association performing at the aged care facility and the residents love hearing them every year.
This year they performed a varied repertoire ranging from Game of Thrones theme, A Dua Lipa Duo, Send in the Clowns and A beautiful Celtic medley. They finished with Happy Birthday for one of the residents. Rebecca (Year 10) charmed the audience with a beautiful solo in the middle of the program.
A huge congratulations goes to the students for their fine performance. Also thank you to staff member Ally Orr for preparing the ensemble so beautifully and to Kees Dogger for transporting all the equipment and playing double bass with the group.
Patrick (VCE Music Student)
This year we have had one student studying VCE units 3 & 4 music via Virtual School Victoria (VSV). Patrick plays the electric bass and had his final recital last Saturday at Haileybury College in Melbourne. His program included a range of pieces from jazz to a Bach cello suite. Patrick has been learning bass with James Newman, who made all the backing tracks and went to Melbourne to accompany Patrick in some of his pieces. We will eagerly await Patrick’s results.
Music Tour Up-Date
Music Tour is now up on Compass for families to respond to. This year we are going to Frankston to give concerts at Koo Wee Rup and the Mornington Peninsula. We will also be giving concerts in our local area and Yarragon. The ensembles are working hard to prepare, and it is worth reminding students that they should try hard to attend them as well as do some practice at home.
