State Track and Field Championships
Two students qualified and made the journey to represent our college at Lakeside Stadium - Albert Park. Lewis (18-20y) and Kaden (17y) were outstanding and proved themselves to be at the top of their game.
Lewis competed in the 100mt sprint placing 5th, with a time of 11.45 seconds. He was just .35 of a second off winning, just amazing. Sensationally he produced a 6.33metre Long Jump to win it by 20cms.
Kaden competed in the Javelin, throwing 48.64 metres and winning himself a gold medal. The throw put him 3.5 metres ahead of his closest competitor, allowing a back-to-back victory for 2024/25. This past weekend, Kaden attended the All-Schools Track and Field competition where he placed 3rd in the Shot Put and will be competing this weekend in Javelin where he is aiming to be successful once again. Congratulations on your achievements this year, we are very proud of your commitment to Interschool Sports and testing yourselves against the best.
Gippsland Year 8 Table Tennis Boys and Girls
This week our Year 8 Boys and Girls Table Tennis teams travelled to Traralgon to compete at regional level. The girls had 2 teams to compete against and enjoyed a solid hit out with Bass Coast Dudley and St Acquinas College. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the wins we were chasing, but the improvement by Luca, Amelia, Nicola-Grace and Eva was outstanding and they will no doubt be real contenders next year.
Our boys’ team were reduced to playing Lowanna College only to qualify for State competition, so the pressure was on. Without any hesitation, the team went on to produce a very tough and hard-to-play-against style of game. All 6 students helped uplift each other’s strengths working their way to a convincing win. The team will travel to Melbourne next month to compete at MSAC Albert Park in the State Championships. Well done Lukas, Kiane, Jacob, Oscar, Noah and Rasha and best of luck on the 28th November.
