Captain’s Corner - Meet Your 2026 Leaders!
As we build towards another exciting season of QGSSSA Winter Fixtures, we’re handing the microphone to the students leading from the front.
Captain’s Corner is your chance to hear directly from our 2026 sporting leaders, the voices helping shape the culture, energy and identity of Clayfield College sport. Across the coming weeks, we will profile our captains as they share their sporting journeys, leadership reflections, favourite Clayfield memories and what they are most looking forward to this season. From pre-game routines to words of advice for younger players, this is an opportunity to get to know the students proudly leading our programs in 2026.
QGSSSA Hockey Leader
Hannah Green
Hello everyone, I am Hannah Green a Year 12 student and this year's Hockey Leader! I have been playing hockey since 2015 when I joined the Arana Ascot Club in Under 7s. I moved up to Turf in Year 7 and have been playing in the JT3 team for fun and fitness for the past few years. I have played every possible position on the field, so if you need some tips, I'm the person to ask! Last year I was an outside half and this year I have mainly been a midfielder, with a few games as striker. Additionally, I also coach an Under 7s team, so I have been working on teaching the basics of the game to Prep students, and they seem to be getting it so I hope I can transfer my skills to a more mature group! I really hope that we will be allowed to play in the Senior A division, but if we are required to play in Opens, I have learnt from last year that focusing on enjoying ourselves and working as a team will ensure that our season is as fun as possible! I am so excited to play with you all again and teach those of you who haven't played before to love the game as much as I do.

Vicki Wilson Netball Championship - Opens Continue to Build
The College Open Netball team returned to the Vicki Wilson Championship Preliminary Round for the second consecutive year, continuing to establish themselves amongst some of the strongest school netball programs in the region.
Despite challenging conditions and persistent rain early in the day, the team made an immediate statement, opening their campaign with a commanding 14–2 victory over Redcliffe State High School. Carrying that momentum through the preliminary rounds, the girls produced a series of polished performances, finishing with just one loss to secure second place in their pool and advance to the crossover stage.
With a place in the next phase of the competition on the line, Clayfield faced quality opposition in a fiercely contested crossover match. The team fought bravely throughout, but ultimately fell just short of progressing further in the tournament.
While the result was not the one they had hoped for, the campaign reflected the continued growth of the program. Competing with composure, skill and unity, the group once again demonstrated that they belong amongst the competition's leading schools. With a talented core returning, the future of Clayfield netball remains exceptionally bright.
The Sports Department extends its sincere appreciation to Miss Amy Lewin, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes continue to drive the success of our netball program. As coordinator, coach and mentor, Amy's commitment to both the Junior and Senior School programs ensures our athletes are supported, challenged and provided with outstanding opportunities to grow both on and off the court. Her leadership remains a cornerstone of the continued development of netball at Clayfield College.

Andrews Cup Netball - Growth, Connection and College Spirit
Clayfield College’s Andrews Cup netballers travelled to Toowoomba for their rescheduled competition, embracing a day filled with learning, teamwork and spirited competition.
The B Grade team produced a series of encouraging performances, building momentum with each match as combinations strengthened and confidence grew. Their ability to adapt to different opponents and apply feedback throughout the day was a testament to their commitment to improvement, while the support they showed one another both on and off the court exemplified the values of the program.
The Junior B team approached the competition with enthusiasm and curiosity, embracing opportunities to develop new skills and experience different playing positions. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zone and learn from each challenge was a highlight of the day, laying strong foundations for future development.
Across both teams, the energy, sportsmanship and camaraderie on display reflected the very best of Clayfield College sport. Thank you to the families and supporters who made the journey to Toowoomba. Your encouragement helped create a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.
