International Music Tour Departure (Wednesday)
I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and around the campus as we close out an incredible semester. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who have engineered these outstanding educational opportunities for our students.
While there were many highlights across the past week, Monday stood out as we welcomed 80 students to campus for the 2027 Year 7 Experience Day. This day marks an important milestone in each student’s learning journey, signalling the beginning of their transition to Senior School. The video below captures the range of activities intentionally designed to give our incoming ‘Clayfield Sevens’ a genuine taste of Senior School life.
The Countdown to Commencement program plays an important role in building confidence, supporting new friendships and familiarising students with the Senior School environment. Most importantly, it ensures each student feels a strong sense of connection to our Clayfield community.
Senior School Locker Rooms
Following the Parallel Learning Student and Parent Forums last year, along with staff feedback, we are pleased to share improvements to the location and configuration of our Senior School locker rooms from Term 3. We are committed to responding thoughtfully to community input.
This change reflects the growth of our Senior School, our transition towards becoming fully co-educational, and our focus on strengthening a unified Senior School community.
From Term 3, all Senior School lockers will be located within a single building. The lower level will be allocated to boys and the upper level to girls. Each floor includes air-conditioning, as well as bathrooms and change room facilities, within a space designed to feel open, light and welcoming.
Lockers will remain organised by House. The shared location will reinforce House identity and place students closer to their House Leaders, while also improving access to their Heads of Year. The design encourages interaction across year levels and will further strengthen House spirit.
The relocation will take place during the June–July holiday break.
We look forward to the positive impact this will have on students’ sense of belonging and their experience of Senior School life.
College Platform and Procedures Update
College Mobile App Update - Stage 1
Over the upcoming Semester break, important updates will be introduced to the Clayfield College Mobile App to enhance security and support a more streamlined experience as members of our community navigate between College platforms.
From midday on Monday 6 July 2026, when you access the App, you will be prompted to log in using your username and password. This is a one-time prompt, and you will have the option to securely save your details for future use.
All families are encouraged to ensure they have downloaded the Clayfield College App ahead of this change. If you require assistance with your login details, please contact the College ICT Team via itsupport@clayfield.qld.edu.au.
Changes to Student Absentee Notification Process
As a result of recent platform updates, the process for submitting student absentee notifications will also change.
From Term 3, all student absentee notifications must be submitted via Parent Lounge, accessible via the College App and/or the College website. Please see our Student Absence Notification Process - Parent Guide for step by step instructions on the new process.
This process will provide a more streamlined and secure way for families to communicate student absences directly to the College, while enabling the College to finalise daily attendance records more efficiently each morning.
Thank you for your support as we continue to improve our College systems and strengthen communication across our community.
MMG Education Survey - Term 3
As part of our ongoing improvement process, we are providing an opportunity for all parents from Pre-Prep to Year 12 and students in Years 6 to 12 to share their perspectives on a range of aspects of College life.
The survey will be conducted by MMG Education, a specialist education consultancy with experience supporting schools in strategic reviews and stakeholder feedback. MMG partners with a wide range of schools across Australia.
Parents will be invited to complete the survey over a two-week period early in Term 3. Students in Years 6 to 12 will also complete their surveys during this time.
MMG Education will email invitations directly, including secure and confidential access to each participant’s questionnaire.
Further details will be shared at the start of Term 3. We value your input and appreciate the time taken to contribute.
Holiday Works
A range of works will take place across the holiday period to refresh and maintain our campus, led by our Facilities, Maintenance and ICT teams.
A key project is an upgrade to the College switchboard. This may result in Main Reception being closed at times due to network outages.
Thank you for your patience during these periods. If Main Reception is unavailable, you can continue to contact the College via email at info@clayfield.qld.edu.au.
Staffing Update
Kelsey Lahey will commence parental leave at the end of this term. We extend our warmest wishes to Kelsey and her family during this special time.
We look forward to welcoming a College Counsellor during her leave, with further details to be shared in the Welcome to Term 3 communication on Thursday 9 July 2026.
European Music Tour and Holiday Opportunities
During the holiday period we wish our Music Team (Angela Lockyer, Karen Gordon, Paul Yarrow, Julie Haidley-Fixter and Melissa Graham) and students a safe and successful European Music Tour as they perform from Paris to Berlin. What a once in a lifetime opportunity for our young musicians. There are also several sport trainings and camps which will occur over the break, so I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities.
I trust that you will enjoy the change of pace over the coming weeks, and I look forward to seeing you all ready for the start of Term 3.
Warm regards
Dr Andrew Cousins
Principal
