It has been another busy and positive week across the Junior School, with a number of co-curricular events and opportunities for students to be involved, represent the College and connect with one another.

Andrews Cup Netball

Monday 8 June 2026

On Monday, our Andrews Cup Netball teams took to the courts in Toowoomba, and it was wonderful to see the energy, teamwork and determination on display across all year levels. The girls represented the College with enthusiasm and sportsmanship, supporting one another and embracing the opportunity to compete.

The teams performed very strongly, with our Year 4 and Year 5 students stepping up to represent the College in place of our Year 6 cohort, who were attending Experience Day.

The B Grade team delivered impressive performances, showcasing resilience and improvement across the day. With each game, the team grew in confidence and communication, demonstrating their ability to respond to feedback and adapt to different opponents. The Junior B team approached the competition as an opportunity for growth and learning. Players embraced the chance to try different positions, building versatility and developing a deeper understanding of the game. The effort of students across all games was something to be proud of.

Junior Assembly – Semester 1 Co-curricular Assembly

Our Semester 1 Co-curricular Awards Assembly will be held at 2:20pm on Tuesday 16 June (Week 9) at the PE Centre. We warmly invite you to join us as we celebrate our sports award recipients and recognise our Da Vinci Decathlon participants.

Lost Property

Monday 15 June to Wednesday 17 June

From Monday 15 June to Wednesday 17 June, a lost property table will be set up outside the Primary Administration Office between 8:00am - 8:30am and 2:30pm - 3:30pm each day for families to claim unnamed items.

Unclaimed items will be redistributed at the end of Term 2.

As a reminder, please ensure all items are clearly named (full name, or surname initial where appropriate) so that lost belongings can be returned promptly to their owner.

End of Term 2

Thursday 18 June

A reminder that Friday 19 June is a Student Free Day, so the final day of Term 2 for students is Thursday 18 June.

As teaching and learning will continue through to the end of term, it is important that attendance is maintained during this time. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is present for all remaining learning activities.

If an early departure is required, please email the Junior School Office at absences@clayfield.qld.edu.au. If the leave is for three days or more, please ensure the relevant form (below) is completed.

As a gentle reminder, leave such as family holidays will be recorded in the system as an ‘Unauthorised Absence’.

Provision of Morning Tea and Lunch for Students

We kindly ask that you ensure your child has both morning tea and lunch packed each day. If you have placed an order through Flexi-Schools for Tuckshop, please take a moment to let your child know this so they are aware and prepared on the day.

For students who forget to bring their morning tea and/or lunch and who have not ordered from the tuckshop, we can organise a basic healthy meal, usually consisting of a sandwich and a piece of fruit.

Parents/carers will be contacted to obtain permission for a blue slip to be issued, which students can take to the tuckshop to collect their meal. The Tuckshop will contact parents/carers directly regarding payment.

Pre-Prep  to Year 1 Cross Country

Unfortunately, our Pre-Prep to Year 1 Cross Country event was cancelled this week due to the weather. We are now planning to hold the event at the same time next Wednesday, 17 June. We hope many of our families are still able to join us and that the weather cooperates on the day.

Year 6 Camp

Last week, our Year 6 students travelled to Noosa North Shore for their much-anticipated camp, representing Clayfield College with pride. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, native flora, birds and even kangaroos, they embraced each activity with enthusiasm and courage. From bodyboarding and canoeing to bouldering, archery tag, laser tag and team development challenges, students stepped outside their comfort zones while consistently supporting and encouraging one another.

Students demonstrated growing independence as they set up, slept in and packed away their tents for one night of the camp, as well as taking responsibility during shared mealtimes. Serving and clean up roles quickly became highly sought after, highlighting their strong sense of contribution to the group. Across the week, many moments of resilience, teamwork and leadership were evident as students worked together and faced new challenges.

Some of the most memorable moments were found in the quieter times, when students connected and played ball games, enjoying each other’s company. These experiences strengthened friendships and fostered a deeper sense of belonging within the cohort. We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 6 students represented the College and the growth they showed throughout the camp.
