School Captain's update

Good Morning/Afternoon parents carers and kin,
We are your 2026 school captains and we are so lucky to have a paragraph in the Elsternwick Primary School newsletter.
We are here to talk about the changes in behaviour in the yard. We have noticed that there has been an amazing change in behavior in the school. Students have been excelling in their actions in the yard. There has been a minimal amount of tackling and rough play while playing sport. Also, there has been no jumping on the goal posts or the net. The older kids have been more mindful and careful of the younger kids.
On another note the school tours have been amazing! There have been so many families and kids interested in our school. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming at the tours and so enthusiastic. We also think that the clubs going on at lunchtime at recess have helped students with exploring new hobbies and finding new friends. Also, it’s not just the teachers who are creating clubs it’s the students which shows their growth in creativity.
Building on that, us school captains have been venturing out to different classrooms for student voice. One thing we have implemented is adding student voices to books the students read during reading. The first year level we have met with was the year three students and we hope to be able to meet with all year levels by the end of the year.
On a low note, one of our most beloved staff members is taking some external leave and is leaving for the rest of the year. We wish him good luck and happy rest of the year.
