School Council News

Kirsty De George, Mum of Isabella 3/4A

At our June School Council meeting, we were pleased to welcome our Sustainability Leaders who opened the meeting with an Acknowledgement of Country setting a respectful and inclusive tone.

The Green Team

We were inspired by a presentation from our Sustainability Leaders (Green Team), who shared their outstanding work across the school. Their initiatives include tree planting, recycling programs, and environmental care activities.

The team presented an exciting proposal to build sugar glider habitats, and School Council was pleased to approve $650 in funding for this project. We look forward to seeing this long-term initiative come to life!

Thank you to Mr Eddington for all your hard work and support provided to the Green Team.

School performance and Finance

Enrolments remain strong, with above quota expected for next year.

Our school continues to perform at a high level in the Attitudes to School Survey.

NAPLAN results remain strong overall, with writing continuing to perform well, though numeracy will be an area of focus moving forward.

The School Council continues to carefully review EPS’ finances to support staffing and programs and approved the cash flow budget for 2026.

We also remind families that voluntary contributions play an important role in maintaining the breadth of opportunities our students are offered.

Building and Grounds

Recent assessments have identified some areas for improvement in our school grounds, particularly around fencing and access points to ensure student safety. Work is underway to address these items.

We are also excited about planned enhancements to the Djeembana Bush Garden by the Holmesglen Institute Conservation and Environment students.

Parents and Carers Association

Our Trivia Night was once again a fantastic success, selling out quickly and a huge thank you to all involved in organising such a great event!

We are also pleased to see the Parents & Carers Association being re-established, with upcoming opportunities for social events such as a parent party and Father’s Day activities. Thank you to Phoebe Norman for leading this work.
