Mathematics
In Maths, we have been discovering the value of ten when making teen numbers. To make our learning fun and meaningful, we became pirates on a treasure hunt! The children collected gems to build teen numbers, helping them understand that every teen number is made with one group of ten and some more ones.
Literacy
Our Literacy learning was inspired by the story Rosie's Walk. After enjoying the book together, the children planned and wrote their own versions using different places around our school playground. They loved using familiar outdoor locations as the setting for their stories and are becoming more confident at retelling events in sequence and recording their ideas in writing.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, we have continued learning about Families. We have been exploring how every family is unique and how families have changed over time. The children thought carefully about what they would like to learn from an older family member and formulated questions for a grandparent or special older adult to answer. We look forward to hearing the wonderful stories and memories they share.
Mrs Tanya, Classroom Teacher
Year 1 & 2A
A big thank you to Mrs Forrest and Ms Douglas for taking such wonderful care of the 1/2A class during the first two and a half weeks of Term 3 while I was away on holiday.
It has been great to return and see everyone settled into the term. In Literacy, we are learning about narrative and information writing. In Mathematics, we have been exploring patterns and 2D shapes, and over the next few weeks we will begin learning about multiplication and division. In Inquiry, we are exploring family connections and family trees. If you have some time at home, it would be wonderful if you could chat with your child about your family's history, traditions or relatives to help support their learning.
Congratulations to all of our students for their fantastic efforts at the school Athletics Day on Friday. We had a 100% attendance, and every student participated enthusiastically throughout the day. As a reward, the class has earned a free college cafe lunch. Well done, let's keep up the great attendance!
A reminder to please listen to your child read for at least 10 minutes each night. Please also ensure that reading diaries are signed and returned to school each day.

Another fortnight has flown by, and what a fantastic way to kick it off with our annual House Athletics!
It was terrific to see so many students embracing the day by turning up, dressing up and having a go! The house spirit, encouragement and participation across all year levels made for an outstanding day. A big congratulations to Jamie, who was 17-18 Age Group Champion after some impressive performance across the day.
A special mention also goes to Kayla and Lucy, who both competed in some events while still recovering from their ACL injuries. Your determination and willingness to get involved was inspiring, and we know you'll be back competing strongly next year!
Congratulations and best of luck to all of our students who have qualified to represent Wedderburn College at the NCD level. We know you'll represent the College with pride, and we look forward to hearing how you go.
They’ve finally done it! A big congratulations to Jacka, who claimed the overall House Athletics title for 2026 after a fantastic team effort. It’s certainly been a long time in the making but you should be very proud of your efforts.
Special thanks to Mrs Postle, Mr Z and the VM students for helping get equipment organised and transported down to Donaldson Park. Thanks everyone!
A reminder that subject selections for 2027 are now overdue. If you haven't returned your forms yet, please make sure you get them to Mrs Woodman / Mrs Barker as soon as possible so planning for next year can be finalised.
Mr G's Study Tip – Use the "20 Minute Rule"
Finding it hard to get started?
Tell yourself you'll study for just 20 minutes. Put your phone away, remove distractions and focus on one task. More often than not, once you've started, you'll keep going.
Remember... starting is usually the hardest part!
"Small efforts, repeated consistently, lead to big results."
