Victory Poem 

Jacka House, hear the cheers ring loud and clear,

Primary and Secondary champs this year!

Every race you ran, you ran with pride,

Every jump, every throw, you turned the tide.

From dawn's first whistle to the final call,

Yellow and gold stood tallest of them all.

To Ansett Blue, we tip our hats today,

You pushed us hard and made us earn the way.

Your effort, spirit, and your fighting heart

Made every single event a work of art.

Though the trophy wasn't yours to take this time,

Your competitive fire made the whole day shine.

So here's to Jacka, champions through and through,

And here's to Ansett, for the battle too.

Two houses gave their all beneath the sun,

But when the dust had settled — Jacka won!

Well done to every athlete, young and bold,

The 2026 House sports day will forever shine in gold. 🥇

A Huge Thank you to Everyone!

Despite the day of fierce competition and establishing who is the best house in our long standing rivalry, it is a great day to come together as a school community and celebrate what is good in athletics and continue to build our school culture.  Overall we must give a massive thank you to everyone who made it such a success.

To our organisers (PE teachers) and staff — thank you for the countless hours of planning, setting up, running events, and keeping everything on track. Days like this don't happen by accident, and your hard work behind the scenes made it all possible.

To our students — congratulations on giving your very best! Whether you were racing, jumping, throwing, cheering on your teammates, or just bringing great energy to your house, you made the day what it was. Your sportsmanship and enthusiasm were fantastic to see.

To our supporters, parents, and families — thank you for coming along, cheering loudly, and being part of the community spirit that makes these days so special. Your support means the world to the kids.

A very special thank you to Kylie and Danny and the catering team — for keeping everyone fed and looked after all day long. Your effort behind the scenes made a huge difference to the day! And a special shoutout to Di & Paul  for keeping everyone fuelled and caffeinated with coffee all day long! 

It truly was a fantastic display of community, participation, and best efforts from everyone involved. Well done to all — Jacka and Ansett alike — for making it such a memorable day!

The House ledger has now been tied at two wins each with the deciding  event to be the Reading Olympics!      Go Jacka - I feel the need, not speed, the need to read!!

Industrial Action Continues

Following the in-principle agreement not being reached between the department and the Australian Education Union (AEU), the AEU informed the Education Department  that all industrial action related to negotiations to finalise the new Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA) will continue.

The proposed next strike action will take place on Wednesday 19th August, to be confirmed.   We hope that over the next two weeks we can reach an agreement and this action and others bans can cease.    

Victorian Fisheries Authority - Little Angler Kits

 At the 2022 State election, the Victorian Government committed to providing Little Angler Kits to students via schools. A box full of the fishing packs has arrived at school and they will be sent home this week.

As outlined in the School Update sent by the Department of Education in August 2023, Grade 5 students have been selected to receive the kits based on the Victorian Curriculum area of focus, movement and motor development and safety considerations. 

The kits include a fishing rod, reel with line, tackle box with some hooks, sinkers, swivels and a lure, as well as a Kids Guide to Fishing – all FREE!
