Parent/Carer Survey

Soon you will receive an invitation to participate in the Department’s annual Parent/Carer survey. This is a great way to provide the school with feedback. The results are looked at closely and decisions regarding the direction of the school take your feedback into consideration. Please try to take the time to complete the survey when it is released.

Literacy

Reading Tip of the Week

Best part of your day — in one sentence

At dinner or bedtime, everyone shares the best (or most interesting, or strangest) part of their day but in exactly one sentence. No lists, no "and then." One sentence. Parents/grandparents/carers play too. If the child wants to say more, they have to rework the sentence to include it.

Numeracy

Tip of the week:

How many do you reckon?

Point to any quantity in everyday life (a jar of pasta, a car park, a crowd at the football) and ask: "How many do you reckon?" Everyone guesses, then you work out how to check or get close. Talk through the reasoning: "Why did you say that? How did you get there?"

Active Learning

Our school is undertaking a push to ensure our students are active learners. The attached active learner matrix is present in all classrooms. In Huddle this week, most students will be doing an activity that focuses on one of the behaviours that drives active learning. We hope that all students will come to understand and embrace what it means to be an active learner.

Homework Club

Homework Club runs at lunchtime on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Students are encouraged to come along and get their homework completed, catch up on missed work, or get some help. There’s teacher support in a quiet space and is open to all secondary students.
