Learning & Teaching (Specialists)

CREATE
Students are eagerly preparing for their upcoming "Symphony of Songs" performances. From Foundation to Year 6, students have been exploring storytelling through movement, music, drama and visual arts. Throughout the term, they will continue to develop and refine their performance pieces, building confidence, creativity and collaboration skills along the way.
Alongside rehearsals, students are engaging in a variety of rich learning experiences across the CREATE curriculum:
Foundation
Foundation students have been learning about beat and rhythm. This term, they will continue revising these concepts while being introduced to rhythm notation and pitch.
Year 1
Year 1 students have been exploring pitch, tempo, beat and rhythm. They will also be designing and constructing their own musical instruments.
Year 2
Year 2 students are continuing to participate in scripted drama experiences. They are exploring how to create their own plays based on the Elephant and Piggie books, as well as familiar fairy tales.
Year 3
Year 3 students are focusing on designing and creating a bag from recycled clothing as part of their study of sustainable fashion. We would appreciate your support in helping your child bring an old top, jumper or pair of pants to use for this project.
Year 4
Year 4 students are exploring Visual Arts Through History. After recently investigating Ancient Greek vases, they are now studying the style of Chinese porcelain, featuring intricate blue patterns and imagery. Students will design and create their own interpretations using paper plates.
Year 5
Year 5 students have explored organic cells through the creation of abstract acrylic artworks. They are now investigating the proportions of the human body and the skeletal system through visual arts.
Year 6
Year 6 students are currently combining visual arts and poetry. They have been interpreting and creating artworks inspired by Jane Taylor's Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night. Students will create their own artwork alongside an original poem before learning about the art of micrography.
We look forward to seeing our students continue to develop their creativity, imagination and confidence throughout Term 3 as they work towards their exciting Symphony of Stories performances.
