As we approach the end of another successful term, I am proud to reflect on the many achievements, celebrations and opportunities that have contributed to a positive and connected school community at Castlemaine Secondary College.
Term 3 has showcased the incredible talents, character and spirit of our students. A particular highlight was the outstanding success of the College Production, A Wrinkle in Time, which brought together students, staff and families in a truly memorable celebration of creativity, collaboration and performance. The dedication of everyone involved both on and off the stage was exceptional and reflected the vibrant culture of our college.
Our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment was also evident through events such as Wear It Purple Day and Are You OK? Day. These occasions provided valuable opportunities for students and staff to celebrate diversity, strengthen connections and reinforce the importance of wellbeing, belonging and looking out for one another. The respectful and enthusiastic participation across the college was a testament to the caring culture we continue to build together.
Student voice and leadership were again on display through the highly anticipated Battle of the Bands – Live to Air, expertly organised and delivered by our Vocational Major students. The event highlighted not only the musical talents of our students but also the leadership, planning and teamwork skills developed through the Vocational Major program. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another and celebrating the diverse talents within our school community.
For our senior students, one of the standout moments of the term was the Year 12 Formal, held at the beautiful Buda Historic Home and Garden. The evening provided a magical opportunity for students to celebrate their secondary school journey, create lasting memories and acknowledge the strong friendships and connections formed throughout their years at Castlemaine Secondary College.
As Term 3 concludes, we also recognise a significant milestone for our Year 12 students, who are now nearing the completion of their formal classes before commencing their VCE examinations next term. This is an important moment of reflection and achievement, and we congratulate our senior students for the dedication, perseverance and resilience they have demonstrated throughout the year. We wish them every success as they prepare for this final stage of their secondary education.
Alongside these celebrations, our continued focus on wellbeing, engagement and connections has remained central to daily life at the college. Through our Sub-School structure, targeted wellbeing initiatives and ongoing collaboration between staff, students have continued to benefit from a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment where they are known, valued and supported to achieve success.
I would like to thank our staff, students, parents and carers for their ongoing partnership and support throughout the term. Together, we continue to create a school community that values aspiration, respect and empathy, ensuring Castlemaine Secondary College remains a place where every student can thrive.
We look forward to an exciting and rewarding Term 4 as we celebrate the achievements of the year and continue supporting all students to finish 2026 positively and successfully.
