Performing Arts

Students in Performing Arts are continuing to travel around Australia through the power of their imaginations. Each class chooses where the Yellow Bus will take them, and students create their own adventures along the way. So far, they have visited theme parks, tobogganed down Mount Buller, seen the dolphins at Monkey Mia and experienced the fireworks at the Sydney Opera House.

We begin each lesson by singing *Palya Palya*, a song in Luritja and English that I sang with my students in Haasts Bluff. Students then awaken their creative bodies and minds through dance before boarding the Yellow Bus for their next adventure.

Konnichiwa! 

Year 1/2

Our Year 1/2 students have been learning about Momofuku Ando, the creator of instant ramen. They listened to his inspiring story and learnt how, after World War II, he wanted to create an affordable and easy-to-prepare food for people in need. Despite facing many challenges and failing several times, Ando continued to persevere until he eventually succeeded.

Students connected his story to our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience and created a booklet reflecting on times when they have demonstrated these important character traits. It was an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience!

Year 3/4

Our Year 3/4 students have been learning about different countries and practising how to ask and answer the question, “Where are you from?” in Japanese. They conducted a class survey using key sentence patterns, developing their speaking and listening skills as they discovered where their classmates were from. 

Year 5/6

Our Year 5/6 students have been learning about the weather in Japanese. They have learned a range of weather vocabulary and practised reading weather maps and describing the weather in different cities.
