Stage 2 News

Year 3

Year 3 have been enjoying a busy and engaging time in the classroom as we continue to build our mathematical thinking and scientific understanding. In Mathematics, students have been learning how to calculate and compare the area of different shapes, using practical materials and a range of strategies to strengthen their understanding. We have also been exploring money, with students developing their skills in calculating totals and working out the correct change in everyday purchasing situations.

In Science, we have been getting hands-on as we explore Earths fascinating surface! Students have been investigating different types of rocks and their physical properties, making observations and asking questions about how rocks change over time. We have also been learning about erosion and designing and conducting fair tests to investigate the factors that can cause materials to break down and move. Students have been developing their skills in making predictions, identifying variables, recording results and drawing conclusions from their investigations.

It has been wonderful to see students enthusiastically engage in practical learning experiences and apply their knowledge to real-world situations!

Year 4

Year 4 Are Becoming Active Citizens!

Starting in Week 6 this term, our Year 4 students have jumped headfirst into an exciting new persuasive writing unit focused on Civics and Citizenship.

To build their research skills, students have been exploring the incredible volunteer side of essential emergency organisations like the SES, SLS, and RFS, learning how everyday heroes give up their time to protect us.

The classrooms are buzzing with energy as students discover the impact of community service and begin drafting their powerful introductions and persuasive ‘calls to action’.

Well done, Year 4, on showing such fantastic community spirit and developing your voices as future leaders!
