HPS Then, Now and Tomorrow Art Competition
As part of Hurstville Public School’s 150-Year celebrations, we held an art competition for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
All artworks were on display at our 150-Year Community Fair and members of the community voted on their favourite works of art in the infants’ category (K-2) and the primary category (3-6).
Last week we announced the winners of the competition at morning assemblies. Our winning students each received a gift pack of art supplies. Congratulations to the following students:

Botany Bay Zone Athletics Carnival
The Botany Bay Zone Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day, with 52 students proudly representing Hurstville and giving their very best. We achieved some outstanding results, including:
Zoe: 1st in 100m, 200m, High Jump; 2nd in 800m, 1500m; 3rd in Discus; crowned Junior Girl Age Champion
Ethan: 1st in 100m, 200m, Long Jump; 2nd in High Jump; crowned Junior Boy Age Champion
Ezra: 1st in 200m, High Jump, Long Jump; 3rd in 100m, 800m; crowned 11-Year-Old Boy Age Champion
Harris: 1st in High Jump; 2nd in 200m, Long Jump; 3rd in 100m
James: 1st in 1500m; 2nd in 800m
Raihana: 3rd in 100m
Chelsea: 2nd in High Jump; 3rd in 800m
Jayden: 1st in Shot Put; 2nd in Discus
Daniel: 1st in 100m, breaking the Botany Bay Record for under 13-year-olds
Ian: 1st in Shot Put
Junior Girls Relay Team: 2nd place
These talented students will now head to the Sydney East Regionals to compete on the 14 September 2026. We wish them all the very best and are proud of their amazing efforts!
PSSA
Winter PSSA has come to an end, and what a fantastic season it has been! All students had a great time participating and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout. We’re proud to celebrate the teams that finished strong, with several securing second place: League Tag Blue Seniors, Netball Division 1 Seniors, Netball Division 3 Seniors, and Boys Soccer Division 3 Seniors.
A special congratulations to our Boys Soccer Division 2 Seniors, who were premiers and undefeated for the entire season, winning the competition! Thank you to everyone for your support and enthusiasm—here’s to more fun and success in the summer PSSA season which begins on Friday 4 September!
Premier's Debating Challenge
On Thursday 20 August, Hurstville Public School Sapphires and Bangor Public School debated in the knockout regional rounds for the Premier's Debating Challenge. The Sapphires argued negative, 'that primary school teachers should set a research project as homework over every school holiday'. Both teams debated with great arguments and rebuttals.

Lost Property
Reminder: Please label all your child's clothing and personal belongings so they can be returned to them if lost.
At the end of each day, a large collection of clothing and containers are left behind. Lost property can be located outside the library.
Parents are encouraged to go through this to check for lost property at drop-off or pick-up time.
