This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s hard work and growth throughout the term. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing these memorable moments together.

Some of the areas the year 8 IGNITE students have been exploring across their core subjects to investigate thought-provoking questions such as:

  • How do empires communicate their ambitions, goals and vision across time?
  • Can modern day empires learn from past mistakes to prevent their own downfall?
  • How did the evolution of chemical understanding propel the success of some historical empires?

Throughout this unit, students have showcased their learning in innovative ways across multiple subjects:

  • HASS: Students have created podcasts, challenging themselves to use their historical knowledge to predict the fall of a modern-day empire by comparing it to a historical empire.
  • English: Students explored how empires communicate to inspire people to adopt their values, visions, and ambitions. They were tasked with designing their own methods of communication by using inference, rather than stating their message outright.
  • Mathematics: Students tracked data patterns of historical empires, analysing the significance of their impact and drawing conclusions from the evidence.
  • Science: Through experimental chemistry, students investigated how advancements in chemical understanding contributed to the acceleration and success of certain empires.

We are excited to invite you to the Global Empires Expo, where students will be showcasing their projects and discoveries.

Year 9 IGNITE Investment Expo – Invitation to Parents, Caregivers, and Families

We are excited to invite year 9 IGNITE parents, caregivers and family members, to the upcoming Year 9 IGNITE Investment Expo, a unique event designed to showcase the outstanding achievements of our students in economics and business this term.

Our IGNITE students have spent the term immersed in a simulated world, applying their entrepreneurial skills to develop innovative products, market their brands on social media, and manage investment portfolios. Through these activities, they have created flourishing simulated businesses and are now eager to seek (pretend) investors to help take their companies to the next level.

On arrival at the expo, every visitor will receive investment tickets, which you can use to support the student companies that capture your interest. As you explore the expo, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Listen to creative business pitches
  • Learn about the unique products and strategies developed by the Year 9 IGNITE students
  • Offer your “investment” to the businesses you believe show promise

This event provides a valuable learning opportunity for students to experience what it means to pitch a product, project their business vision, and attract potential investors, all in a supportive, simulated environment. Your participation will help inspire and encourage our young entrepreneurs.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Investment Expo and celebrating the creativity, innovation, and hard work of our Year 9 IGNITE students.

In this group-based task, students have built important skills in team building and negotiation, as they work together to achieve a common goal. With the increasing impact of industrial and commercial by-products on our natural ecosystems and human health, students have been exploring creative ways to reuse and recycle these materials.

Throughout the unit, students have:

  • Practiced different filtration methods in Science,
  • Considered costs, rates, and percentages in Mathematics,
  • Developed persuasive communication strategies in English,
  • Investigated sustainable development goals connected to waterways and resources in HASS.

Bringing these skills and knowledge together, students designed and constructed a factory and developed a brand new sustainable product for the market, utilising factory by-products in innovative ways.

We look forward to welcoming you to this inspiring event, where you can see firsthand the outstanding work and creativity our Year 7 IGNITE students have demonstrated.
