Year 7 students become town planners in HASS.
This term, our year 7 students have embraced the exciting challenge of town planning as part of their Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum.
Tasked with designing settlements from a provided map, students drew upon their knowledge of geography and urban planning to create thriving communities.
Each group began by analysing the strengths and weaknesses of their assigned locations, considering elements such as terrain, climate and water access. By understanding these factors, students selected the industries best suited to their settlements, aiming for sustainability and prosperity.
A central priority of each project was the creation of liveable communities. Students thoughtfully planned essential amenities and infrastructure, such as entertainment venues, shopping centres, medical facilities, educational institutions and public services, ensuring their settlements would be both attractive and functional for future residents.
Through this hands-on experience, our year 7 students showcased creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, making it a memorable and valuable learning journey.

Year 7 students explore chemistry through sensory toy creations
Our Year 7 students have been hard at work in the science labs, creating their own sensory toys as part of their chemistry unit. This engaging project has given students practical insights into the states of matter and mixtures.
As they experimented with various materials and techniques, students deepened their understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on learning. The creation of sensory toys not only reinforced key chemistry principles, but also encouraged creativity and collaboration in the classroom.
