Celebrating Volunteers at Educators SA Event

Aberfoyle Park High School is proud to announce the achievements of two dedicated staff members at the recent Educators SA volunteer event. The gathering recognised the valuable service and ongoing commitment of volunteers across South Australian schools.

 

Sarah Hornwas honoured with the "Outstanding First Year Volunteer" award, celebrating her exemplary contributions during her inaugural year supporting our school community. Her enthusiasm and dedication have made a significant positive impact, setting a high standard for new volunteers.

 

Additionally, Suriya Down was acknowledged for more than five years of volunteer service. Suriya received a special recognition for her sustained efforts, leadership, and commitment to supporting both students and fellow staff over several years.


Congratulations to Suriya Down – 7 News Young Achiever and Education Award Winner

 

We are delighted to congratulate Suriya Down, our Director of Music and the Arts, on being named a 7 News Young Achiever over the weekend. Suriya was awarded the prestigious 2026 Credit Union SA Education Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to education and the arts.

In addition to her achievements at Aberfoyle Park High School, Suriya serves as President of Kodály South Australia and is the Convenor of the 2026 National Kodály Conference. Her work extends well beyond our community, making a significant impact across South Australia and the nation.

 

Suriya’s dedication, leadership, and passion for music education continue to inspire students and colleagues alike. Congratulations, Suriya! Your incredible work is a beacon for our school community and the wider education sector.


Congratulations to Alan Peat – State Short Board Champion

Congratulations Alan Peat on winning the Over 50’s Short Board State Titles for South Australia. This outstanding achievement highlights Alan’s skill and passion for surfing.

 

Alan’s success has earned him a place in the upcoming Australian Championships, which will be held in Wollongong later this year. We wish him all the best as he represents South Australia and our school community on the national stage.
