Wellbeing

World Kindness Day is coming up on Friday the 13th of November. This day is promoted and acknowledged worldwide by many different organisations. The Random Acts of Kindness initiative have prepared an entire wellbeing curriculum around it and it is great to see such a simple, yet powerful wellbeing message promoted globally. We will focus on the lessons in the Caring unit, where the lesson objectives range from caring for your self, showing empathy to others and how to apologise with sincerity.
This year, the focus is on self-care and personal wellbeing as well as compassion and not just “being kind” to others but showing empathy and compassion to build a deeper understanding and approach to inclusivity, caring and positive wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Captains have collaborated with the SVAT team at BEPS to come up with suggestions for what we could focus on in our classrooms across the year levels on Friday the 13th of November. These include:
“Saying nice things and using kind words”- Natalie, Year 1
“Using our manners, like please and thank you”- Arjun, Year 1
“Help others”- Wade, Year 1
“Check in on your friends, ask are you ok?”- Josephine, Year 6
“Compliment others”- Arietty, Year 5
“Use the Habits, like working well with others (Habit 6- Synergise)” - Adeline, Year 2
“Make an effort to show the school values”- Aria, Year 2
On Friday November 13th, we will have a casual dress day with a gold coin donation to raise money for the RSPCA, as a way we can all show kindness to not just people but to support those who take special care of animals at the RSPCA, if you did not know, there is a local branch in Burwood. It’s great to see Student Voice on show at BEPS!
