Refugee Week: Building Community Through Our Stories

Last week marked Refugee Week, an important time for us to pause, learn, and celebrate the immense contributions refugees make to our neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces.

The theme for this year is "A Million Stories". It marks a major historical milestone: one million refugees have found safety and a new home in Australia since World War II. At our school, we believe that every story matters and that diversity makes our classrooms brighter and kinder.

Over the week, our students discussed themes of empathy, inclusion, and what it means to be a welcoming neighbour. We encourage families to chat at home about how we can all help make newcomers feel safe and valued in our community.

The Youth Ministry (Liturgy) Team recognised Refugee Week by creating a banner and promoting Refugee week in the Senior School this week.

The Class also took part in a Liturgy in the Chapel on Wednesday prepared by Niya.

Year 10 Camp

15th – 17th July

Guest Speaker ‘Sam Clear’

Speaker Spotlight: The Incredible Journey of Sam Clear

We are excited to share the inspiring story of Sam Clear, an extraordinary Australian visionary, author, and motivational speaker.

Driven by a mission to promote unity and break down cultural divides, Sam undertook the epic Walk 4 One initiative—a staggering 15,600-kilometer (nearly 10,000-mile) journey entirely on foot around the world.

Over the course of 568 days, Sam walked through South America, Central America, North America, Siberia, and Europe. He survived extreme weather, came face-to-face with dangerous wildlife, and overcame intense physical threats through sheer resilience, faith, and a refusal to give up.

Sam’s story is a powerful reminder to our college community of what can be achieved through perseverance, courage, and a commitment to understanding others.

We look forward to meeting Sam and hearing his story on Year 10 camp.
